Update: Restaurant front and back bar

For every commission, quality control is of paramount importance, that’s why each design is set out using plywood templates, then built and assembled in our workshop. This allows us to iron out any issues before we go to the installation phase. This is of major benefit to ensure that the specification of appliances, it can be a tricky engineering challenge, as in this case; with 6 fridges, 2 sinks with splash back, 1 glass washer, an array of electrical wiring, LED lighting and plumbing; all to fit snug and neatly into the cabinet-making. A further compounded challenge was to maximise the space above the back bar, for the storage of an extensive wine and champagne collection of varying sizes.

The overall effect should be quite impressive.

The front- bar design had many complexities in the build, especially the white solid surface with its acutely angled frame-work that encases the cabinet-work, (see workshop production photo’s below). To produce such a complex frame-work, detailed wooden jigs were constructed to mould the solid surface into the final shape. To add to the drama, I wanted to give the impression that the whole bar looked as if it was floating, to achieve this a very intense LED white-light in the form of a continuous strip was installed, hidden and recessed at foot height.

The wine collection needs 3 forms of storage; to the top back bar with the standard square rack using two aperture sizes; to the left and right sides a continuous diamond shaped rack, and in the centre removable laminated glass shelving.

At every opportunity we do encourage all our clients to visit the team at the studio and workshop, we feel it is the best way to understand what we are capable of, and to better appreciate the processes and the project.
